Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toniz Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American sportscaster. She currently works as an ESPN sportscaster. ESPN and is an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. In 2016, she joined ESPN. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta is a native speaker of two languages. When she was just nine, Collins's ability to converse in two languages led to her obtaining a job in Miami as an assistant production for Univision. In this role, she had the opportunity to be a part of national show producers such as Nuestra Belleza Latina. Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was then hired as a reporter by the CBS station to work as the sports reporter. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an anchor for the newscast of The Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. She covered stories about illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking in both Texas as well as Mexico. The station also frequently asked her to be anchors for the weather and sports. She was then anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her larger responsibilities. She was a reporter for events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys as well as the NBA Postseason, as well as the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. She also hosted her own local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. Then, she became the sports host on the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. In the same capacity for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collin's parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born there on the 22nd of November in 1985. She has a sister. The family settled in Miami following the move from Mexico into the US. In 1992, her parents separated and shortly afterward in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who passed away in the year 2006 due to kidney cancer. When on vacation Antonietta was staying at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed an offer to work. Antonietta still a senior at high school but she had a clear idea of the path she wanted. When she was deciding whether Mount Union was right for her Antonietta decided to go visit the campus. At the end of the day, she fell in love with the university. The university offered her an academic major. When she finished her high school education, she chose to attend the University to pursue a degree in media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor for WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was an affiliate. Professor Bergmann encouraged her to be confident and was deeply moved by his enthusiasm for journalism.
